Artistic Intervention and Dialogical Exchange : A refreshing  approach to  community-based work.

What is the relationship of art to society? What is the social function of art?  How do artists, academics and NPOs  situate their practice in a living community? How do they intervene or facilitate an issue that is of concern to all? Is their engagement able to change conditions for the community? This presentation looks at specific case studies in Kyoto and Tokyo of  creative innovations arising out of the process and dialogue of  interventionist art.
