Sakiko Sugawa / 須川咲子

Profile

1978年、京都市生まれ。午年。ニューヨーク市立大学卒業（専攻：メディア・スタディーズ）。大学在学中から、フリーで展覧会の企画や、Open Universityというレクチャー・ワークショップ、数々の「プロパガンダ」プロジェクトを友人とブルックリンで始める。2005年から3年間、京都精華大学のGARDENとAssembly hour 講演会という対外向け文化・教育プログラムのディレクションを行い、実験的なワークショップ＆レクチャー、暮らしに関わるプログラムを多数企画する。2006年に、並行して「喫茶はなれ」をスタートさせ、場所やイベントの大小に関わらず「今当たり前とされていることは、本当に当たり前なのか」という問いを発するプロジェクトを企画、実行中。2008年6月〜１１月までイタリアのビエッラでUniversity of Ideas (UNIDEE) by Cittadellarte-Pistoletto Foundationという滞在型プログラムに参加。２００９年夏には中東問題を扱ったメディアプロジェクトをイスラエルとパレスチナで発表予定。ワクワクする会話のある食事と目的のない散歩が趣味。料理の修行中。コラム「Note」へのリンクはこちら

Sugawa Sakiko was born in 1978 (the year of the Horse) in Kyoto, She graduated from City University of New York, majoring in Media Studies. While living in Brooklyn, she organized collaborative projects including, the photo exhibition, "Young photographers' biennial," and the lecture and workshop series called, "Open University" besides creating a series of visual propaganda. From 2005-2008, She directed the continuing education program, "GARDEN/Assembly hour" at Kyoto Seika University while starting the weekly café, "Kissa hanare" in Kyoto. Her projects, regardless of their size, aim to question and challenge social and cultural cliché, and propose new ideas as well as new way of living. From Jun. 2008, she participated in the residential program, "University of Ideas (UNIDEE)" organized by Cittadellarte-Pistoletto Foundation in Biella, Italy. Sakiko will launch her media art project dealing with the Israel-Palestine conflict, in the summer of 2009 in Ramallah and Jerusalem. Please check her column, "Note."
